Community Projects, Inc. reports that 2017 was a successful year in which they were able to award grants or pledges of $561,226.15 to the Napa community.
Major grants were awarded to Aldea, Inc., Cope, Hearts & Hands Preschool of Calistoga, Napa County Family & Foster Care, Napa High School, Napa Salvation Army, Napa Valley Education Foundation, Napa Valley Food Bank, Parents CAN, Project Graduation, Queen of the Valley Foundation, Share the Care Napa Valley, Teacher Resource Center of the North Bay, The Table at the Presbyterian Church, and Vintage High School.
Key recipients of grants are Napa Schools, Browns Valley Elementary School, Hearts & Hands Preschool of Calistoga, Napa High School, Napa Valley Language Academy, Northwood Elementary School, Redwood Middle School, River School, Salvador Elementary School and Vintage High School. In addition, many deserving Napa students were awarded scholarships.
Community Projects raises the money through sale of merchandise donated to its Thrift Shop at 715 Franklin St., Napa and disburses proceeds to worthy causes. Since it inception in 1941, Community Projects has donated about $12,843,760 to Napa County Schools and non-profits.
Members of the group volunteered about 39,084 hours of service during 2017 in support of the operation of the Thrift Shop and two special events, Putting on the Glitz and Treasures of Christmas Past.
