Six employees of Napa Valley College were honored by Police Chief Ken Arnold on Feb. 23 for saving the life of a man who collapsed on campus on Jan. 16. The rescue began when a campus electrician, Curtis Lyle, second from right, called campus police to report the man down, while Child Development teacher Sara Featherstone, second from left, and Child and Family Studies faculty member Christine Dreher, far right, administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Dispatcher Jazmin De La Cruz, third from left, dispatched Officer Esmeralda Curio, fourth from right, and Sgt. Hoyt Maddox, far left, to the scene. The fallen man was kept alive with the help of a defibrillator until paramedics took over and transported the man to Queen of the Valley, where he was treated.
