Oenotri, the downtown Napa restaurant specializing in the cuisine of southern Italy, is once again offering specialty cooking classes to restaurant friends on select Saturdays in the coming months.

Chefs Curtis Di Fede and Tyler Rodde will show guests the secrets to creating delectable pastas and scrumptious pizzas in their own homes. Each class will focus on a specific food from southern Italy.

This new round of classes will split pizza-making into two separate classes — the initial session focusing on the art of dough-making and the second part focusing on the pizza-building itself. The second series of classes will focus on making fresh pasta.

The class schedule is:

• May 19 — Pizza Class Part I

• June 9 — Pizza Class Part II

• June 23 — Pizza Class Part II

• July 7 — Pasta Class

• July 21 — Pasta Class

Each class lasts two to three hours, ending with a special lunch with the chefs prepared by class participants.

Cost for enrolling in each of the classes is $75 per person. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 16 people per class. Some classes will be split into two start times, 11 and 11:30 a.m. Start time will be confirmed upon sign-up. Call 252-1022, ext. 1 or email contact@oenotri.com to register.

Barry Christian stood on the new levee trail south of Napa one day recently and enjoyed the expansive views. Distant mountains, adjacent tidal wetlands and the Brazos railroad drawbridge crossing the Napa River are part of the scenery.
