Santa Claus will come a bit early for 50 children of area winery employees.

Napa Private Tours is hosting a gathering at VOICES (Voice Our Independent Choices for Emancipation Support) next week at which 50 youths will be presented with winter coats and toys.

Javier Calderon and Flaco Hernandez, principals of the local company that provides transportation and concierge services for executives and visitors to the Napa Valley, are hosting the event, “Giving Back to the Vine,” on Nov. 29.

Calderon said his business was doing well, so he and his partner put together the event “as a way to give back to the community and, most importantly, to put a smile on the faces of many underprivileged children.”

He said Napa Private Tours is not asking for anything from the community as he and Hernandez wanted to do this as a gesture of goodwill. They hooked up with Central Valley Project, a nonprofit that works with kids, to put the event together.

“We have been asking wineries that our company works with to supply us with names of kids and their sizes so we could do this next week,” Calderon said.

Invited youths and their parents will also be offered some holiday treats prepared by the owners’ good friend, restaurant chef Gerry Castro, at the late-afternoon gathering.

Napa Private Tours provides concierge and tour programs, including reservations at wineries off the beaten path as well as at some of the valley’s top restaurants. More information at NapaPrivateTours.com.
