The Nichelini Family Winery will celebrate the 150th birthday of its founder Anton Nichelini, born Nov. 22, 1862, by releasing its 2010 William Block Zinfandel, made solely of 100 percent Nichelini clone grapes. The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 1-2 at the winery, 2950 Sage Canyon Road in St. Helena. According to fifth-generation Nichelini winemaker Aimée Sunseri, Anton Nichelini produced a zinfandel, the first wine sold by the winery, in 1890. The William Block was named in honor of the first Nichelini child, William Anton, born in 1891. For details, call 963-0717 or visit
