All Napa County residents and business owners are invited to pick up complimentary erosion control materials at the Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ first Erosion Control Community Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 8-10 a.m. at the Napa Valley Expo Third Street entrance, 575 Third St., Napa.
Free erosion control materials, such as mulch, straw wattles, native and sterile seed mixes, and gloves will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In addition, NVG has gathered industry experts and environmental and land-use organizations to be on hand to advise on best erosion control practices as it relates to individual properties and to answer any post-fire recovery questions. These include the county of Napa Agricultural Commissioner’s Office, County of Napa Planning, Building, and Environmental Services, Napa County Resource Conservation District, Natural Resources Conservation Services, The Wattle Guys and Central Valley.
“Every year, growers implement erosion control practices in the vineyard, before the winter rains. While vineyard sites have been protected at this point, we thought it was very important to support our community in making sure that all landowners have access to erosion control materials and information, as well as funding opportunities as they go about recovery on their properties,” said Jennifer Putnam, CEO and executive director of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. “We hope that landowners across Napa join us next Wednesday.”
