Two meditation classes specifically designed for seniors will be given at Rianda House Senior Education Center beginning on Friday, May 4 and concluding on Friday, June 15. Both begin at 9:30 am and will be taught by Dr. James Keolker, master meditation teacher.
"Celebrating Our Breath" will feature the essence of meditation, managing to focus on just the breath. "An old adage says, if you can breathe, you can meditate," Keolker recently stated. "And since everyone breathes, we will learn how to use our breath to calm ourselves and enlighten ourselves in meditation. This is an especially important skill for seniors who may become stressed by change in their lives."
"Nature Meditation" will follow, highlighting new ways to meditate outdoors. "We don't always have to be indoors," Keolker continued, "so we'll learn ways to be mindful amidst nature, something every senior can do and enjoy."
Classes will be free of charge and a part of Rianda House's 10th Anniversary Celebration. Reservations are advised by calling (707) 963-8555. The Center is at 1475 Main St., St. Helena.
