Napa City Council and mayoral candidates will be questioned on environmental issues this week in a public forum at the Napa County Library.

The forum will be hosted by the Friends of the Napa River, Get a Grip on Growth, Napa Sierra Club chapter and Napa Valley CanDo. The forum will focus on environmental issues that face the city.

The candidates have been given questions in advance. If time permits, members of the audience may ask questions.

The forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the community room at the library, 580 Coombs St.

Next week, the candidates will get the chance to weigh in on issues related to business and downtown. The Downtown Association is holding a forum at the Napa Valley Wine Train.

The forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 10. The Wine Train station is at 1275 McKinstry St.

Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Both forums are free and open to the public.
