The Napa City Council has appointed Mayor Jill Techel and Councilwoman Juliana Inman to an ad hoc committee that will meet with County Supervisors Bill Dodd and Keith Caldwell over the Napa Pipe project.

The Board of Supervisors appointed Dodd and Caldwell during its meeting Tuesday, and the City Council followed suit with appointing Techel and Inman Tuesday evening.

The committee will begin meeting to discuss a deal over the Napa Pipe project that would include the city providing services such as water, police and fire in exchange for a revenue sharing and a potential path to annexing the site within city limits, among other topics.

The Board of Supervisors set a deadline for May 14 for these negotiations, and an update is due to the board Feb. 5.

Phew! I'm so glad no one appointed anyone who might have a bias toward Napa Pipe. Really, Techel and Inman?
