A motorist suffered major injuries Tuesday in a head-on collision on  White Cottage Road South in Angwin, according to the California Highway Patrol which responded to the crash at 7:20 p.m. The other driver was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs, the CHP said.

William Fontana, 46, of Angwin, was driving a 1994 Acura Integra northbound on White Cottage Road South north of West Lane, when he crossed the double-yellow lines and collided with an oncoming 1993 Toyota pickup truck, CHP Officer Jake Ramos said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Charles Pina, 44, of Angwin, was transported by Angwin Community Fire ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries, according to the CHP and Angwin Volunteer Fire Chief Avery Browne.

Fontana, who complained of pain, was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, Ramos said.
