A Sunday afternoon solo-vehicle crash on Monticello Road killed one person and sent at least two others to the hospital, according to local authorities.

The crash was reported just before 1:45 p.m. Sunday near Circle Oaks Drive off Monticello Road/Highway 121, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online dispatch system. A vehicle, possibly carrying four people, landed on its side 40 to 50 feet in a creek bed off the roadway, CalFire said.

According to CalFire, the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. One person was killed in the crash, the CHP said.

CalFire said one occupant was transported by air to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, and at least one other was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the crash, conditions of the surviving occupants and other details were unavailable as of Sunday evening.
