A 23-year-old American Canyon woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of drug possession and other charges after an officer allegedly saw her driving erratically, police said.
Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, an officer allegedly saw Priscilla Placencia swerve into the wrong direction of traffic on James Road and accelerate above the speed limit, American Canyon Police said. The officer followed the driver, which stopped on Wilson Way.
Placencia allegedly exited the vehicle and knocked on the door of a home there, asking for her brother who did not live at the Wilson Way residence, police said. The officer then contacted the driver, who said she did not have identification with her, but allegedly admitted to having a suspended driver’s license.
The officer began to search her backpack for identification, when the woman allegedly locked the car, police said. She was then detained outside the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, the officer allegedly found a baggie of marijuana, police said. Before the vehicle was towed, another search was conducted and one more bag of marijuana, as well as three oxycodon pills, were allegedly found.
Placencia was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, violating probation and for an outstanding warrant, police said. She was booked into the Napa jail.
