Two men were arrested Tuesday after an American Canyon Police officer found counterfeit bills in a vehicle parked at the American Canyon post office on Crawford Way, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer found one of the two men in a vehicle parked at 3:15 a.m. at the post office in the 300 block of Crawford Way, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Anthony Moreno, 28, of Vacaville, was arrested after the officer found four suspected counterfeit $100 bills in the vehicle, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Moreno had given permission to search the vehicle, Capt. Tracey Stuart said.

Napa Sheriff’s Investigators then led a probation search of a residence in the 2100 block of California Drive in Vacaville, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. During the search, detectives found more suspected counterfeit currency and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, Stuart said.

Investigators also found equipment believed to be used to create counterfeit currency, she said.

A resident, David Latt, 44, was arrested in connection with the suspected counterfeiting ring, Stuart said. Latt, of Vacaville, was booked into Solano County jail at about 2 p.m. on suspicion of being in possession of methamphetamine, possession of counterfeiting equipment, and forgery, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office and the jail logs.
