A documentary about a Napa Valley College student shot and killed by Vallejo police will be shown at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the community room at the college’s McCarthy Library.

The film was created by a close friend of Guy Jarreau, who was a Napa Valley College student and active member of the Black Student Union. On Dec. 11, 2010, Jarreau was shot and killed by police.

Police said they were investigating a report of a man brandishing a gun at teenagers. Officers said they fired in self-defense when Jarreau, who carried a loaded weapon, confronted the officers.

Jarreau’s defenders say the incident occurred during the filming of a music video and that he was not carrying a weapon.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion.

The film is being screened by Campus Greens, a student organization that supports the Green Party.
