Thursday’s 12th annual Napa County Pruning Contest has been postponed due to morning rains in Yountville, according to the event’s organizer, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers.

The contest is being rescheduled for Friday, according to Grapegrowers spokeswoman Ashley McKinney. Competition will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event, held at Beringer Vineyard’s Gamble Ranch, features vineyard workers from various wineries who compete to show the most speed and skill pruning grapevines. Fifty-seven workers have entered the contest, with more expected to register on Friday morning, McKinney said.
