A man and a woman from Napa were arrested Monday after police responded at 2:37 p.m. to a report of an assault in the 800 block of Central Avenue, according to Napa Police.

David McCarthy, 25, and Emily Fahey, 22, were arguing when McCarthy allegedly threw a cell phone to Fahey, police said. Fahey picked up the phone and then allegedly hit McCarthy with it, causing a laceration, police said.

McCarthy then fell to the ground after his knees buckled, police said. Fahey was arrested. McCarthy, who did not want Fahey arrested, allegedly charged the arresting officer who deployed his Taser on McCarthy, police said.

McCarthy was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries, police said.

Fahey was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of battery, police said. McCarthy was booked into the jail on suspicion of resisting police, according to the jail logs.
