A 31-year-old Napa woman was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other charges after she allegedly struck a man with a hammer during an argument, police said.
Officers were called around 11:40 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Spruce Street on a report that Monique Joy Lalonde had assaulted a man and fled the scene, police said. The suspect was located in her apartment and admitted to having been at the scene, but said she did not assault the man, according to police.
Police determined Lalonde had struck the man in the face multiple times, as well as in the leg, authorities said. She allegedly fled after the incident with the hammer.
Lalonde, who reportedly shares a child with the alleged victim, was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and vandalism, police said.
Authorities did not have information on the man’s condition Monday morning.
