Napa will host National Night Out, a program to build police-community partnerships, on Tuesday evening in the Target parking lot at South Napa Marketplace.
National Night Out, which runs from 5 to 8 p.m., is a free event offering a bike rodeo, a jump house, outdoor chalk art, information booths and displays, food and giveaways.
The event includes participation by Napa police and fire departments, the California Highway Patrol, AMR Ambulance, DARE, the Salvation Army and other government agencies.
American Canyon spreads National Night Out into the neighborhoods, organizing pot lucks, barbecues, ice cream socials and street parties, also from 5 to 8 p.m., throughout the city.
Police officers and firefighters will visit the neighborhoods and show off equipment, including fire engines and armored police vehicles. MacGruff the Crime Dog helps keep younger children entertained.
To register a block party or for information on forming a neighborhood watch group in American Canyon, contact Officer Ryan Woolworth, the event’s organizer, at 707-551-0605 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
