With less than two weeks remaining before Election Day, 2,500 Napa County vote-by-mail residents have yet to receive their sample ballot pamphlets, according to county Registrar of Voters John Tuteur.
“We are mailing sample ballot pamphlets to these voters immediately,” Tuteur said in a statement Thursday.
An insert to an earlier mailing asked voters to call the Napa County Election Division if they had not received their pamphlet by Oct. 20. Such calls this week alerted the office to the more widespread problem, Tuteur said.
“I want to thank those voters who called our office when their sample ballot pamphlet did not arrive,” Tuteur said. “Your diligence brought this delay to our attention.”
Nearly half of the affected voters are in Yountville with 1,225 delayed pamphlets, Tuteur said. Other affected areas include the St. Helena Unified School District, where 900 pamphlets have yet to be mailed and the Calistoga Unified School District with 300.
Sample ballot packets include candidate statements and materials on school bonds and town measures.
Tuteur said the Election Division is researching why the sample ballot pamphlets were not included in a mass mailing of the packets on Oct. 4.
