A traffic stop Saturday evening north of Calistoga ended with a fight between a driver and a sheriff's deputy, resulting in the motorist's arrest on felony obstruction and gun allegations, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
At 5 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Gregory Wayne Geitner of Angwin on Tubbs Lane near Highway 128 for an expired registration, according to Sgt. Jon Thompson. Geitner refused to leave the vehicle or speak with the deputy, and an altercation ensued during which Geitner said he had a loaded firearm on him, Thompson said.
A second deputy was sent to the scene with a patrol dog and the two officers finally detained Geitner, according to Thompson.
Geitner was booked into the Napa County jail for investigation of obstructing law enforcement officers and committing a felony while possessing a firearm. He also was being held on misdemeanor allegations of possessing a gun that was concealed and unregistered.
