A traffic stop Saturday led to the arrest of a registered sex offender on suspicion of falsifying his residency, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Brandon James Magdanz, 31, for an expired registration at noon on the Silverado Trail at Third Street, according to Sgt. Jon Thompson.
A records check showed Magdanz, as a registered offender, was required to share his home address with local law enforcement on or about his birthday in September, but had falsely registered with Vallejo Police as living in that city when he was actually a transient who had spent the last six months in Napa, Thompson said.
Magdanz was detained and booked into the Napa County jail on four felony counts including failure to disclose a new address, registering while transient, registering an incorrect address and forgery, according to Thompson. He also faces a misdemeanor count of driving without a license.
