A 42-year-old Vallejo man was arrested in American Canyon early Monday morning after being stopped on suspicion of a vehicle code violation and then allegedly being found in possession of drugs, police said.

An officer tried to stop Laurence Afllese DeGuzman just after 2 a.m. in the area of Elliott and Mini drives on suspicion of a vehicle code violation, police said. DeGuzman allegedly pulled over at Severus Drive and on contact, was allegedly determined to be under the influence of drugs.

He was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said. A post-arrest search allegedly revealed suspected methamphetamine and a smoking violation. He was also arrested in connection with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and booked into the Napa jail.
