Napa Police have arrested a Napa man this morning and charged him with homicide in the 1997 murder of a Kenya native.
Randy Weeks, 46, was taken into custody at his Napa home for the Sept. 12, 1997, murder of Edwin Njuguna, 24.
Njuguna was stabbed to death in a Napa residential neighborhood when he and his two passengers stopped their car in front of Weeks' brother and sister-in-law’s home. The couple, along with Weeks was hosting a going-away party for a friend.
Numerous teens attending the party confronted Njuguna and his friends and told them to leave. Racial slurs were allegedly yelled at Njuguna, who is black. At that time a free-for-all fight erupted, ending with Njuguna being stabbed three times, including a fatal puncture to his heart.
Weeks’ sister-in-law, Julie Ann Weeks, pleaded no contest two days ago to being an accessory to a felony in relation to this case.
