A man was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries after a van that was supposed to shuttle the band Weezer from the stage on Friday night backed over him, according to California Highway Patrol.

The band was performing their last song of the night during the Safeway Open Concert Series at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa on Friday when the driver of the van began making preparations to transport them away from the stage, said CHP Sgt. Brad Bradshaw. For some reason, he said, the driver of the van was unable to get the vehicle’s parking brake to release and so she called for help. When another employee at the event released the brake, the van backed up and ran over a Napa man who had been backstage, Bradshaw said.

The man was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries. Bradshaw did not know what the man was doing backstage, but said that he was not an employee.

The employee who released the parking brake hadn’t realized that the van was in reverse, Bradshaw said. No criminal charges are being sought, he said.
