Two people were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries after the GMC pickup truck they were riding in crashed into a tree on Oak Knoll Avenue early Tuesday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.

Officials said that the pickup crashed into a tree east of Highway 29 at about 5:50 a.m. The driver and one passenger, both of Bakersfield, were transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries.
