Free fire recovery and insurance workshop scheduled for Feb. 20

The next United Policyholders insurance workshop is Tuesday, Feb. 20, 6-8 p.m., at The Hall at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 960 Caymus St.

Workshop topic: Repair/rebuilding financing, real estate, loan/mortgage, and tax related decision-making for partial and total wildfire survivors.

Who should attend? Homeowners whose insured homes were damaged or destroyed in the Napa County wildfires. This workshop is cohosted by the Napa Valley Community Foundation.

Volunteer firefighters needed in the Pope Valley area

Napa County Fire needs volunteer firefighters in the Pope Valley area for stations 20 and 220. No experience is necessary, and training is provided. Napa County residents benefit greatly from the contributions of volunteer firefighters around the county. Complete an application online at countyofnapa.org. Youth representative opening on Wildlife Conservation Commission

There’s an opening on the Wildlife Conservation Commission (WCC) for a youth representative (ages 15-25) for a term that would last until Feb. 1, 2020.

The WCC advises the Board of Supervisors on policy matters related to the preservation and enhancement of wildlife and their habitats.

The Commission also submits annually a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for allocation of state Department Fish and Game fine monies. This means you get to help recommend where money should go to best preserve and protect wildlife resources and educate Napa County residents.

Meetings are quarterly and usually located at the Napa County Library Community Meeting room, 580 Coombs St.
