A 42-year-old man was charged Tuesday in Napa County Superior Court with child abuse and driving under the influence with special allegations four days after he was stopped in south Napa for extremely poor driving, according to court records.

Gerardo Gonzalez of Napa had two children in the vehicle, ages 8 and 15, when he was stopped Friday near Harston Street and Old Sonoma Road, police said. The officer arrested Gonzalez at about 8:40 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence and willful cruelty to a child, according to court records.

Gonzalez was booked into the Napa County jail, according to the booking log.
