Four Browns Valley residents and their dog became displaced after waking up to the smell of smoke early Tuesday morning, according to Napa City Fire.

The family discovered a fire, exited the home on the 3200 block of Swiss Court and called 911 just before 2 a.m. Firefighters arrived within minutes and controlled the fire by 2:20 a.m., firefighters said.

The fire, which started in the living room, was contained to one floor of the two-story home and did not spread to neighboring structures, fire officials said.

One resident was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for a precautionary evaluation and later released.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
