Those hoping to avoid the shopping crush of Black Friday have another option -- a free visit to one of California's state parks.

The state and the Save the Redwoods League are partnering in Green Friday, a program that will provide free daytime parking passes at 116 parks on a first-come, first-served basis.

As of Monday afternoon, free passes were sold out for Bothe-Napa Valley State Park north of St. Helena, the one local park in the program, though others in the region still had space available.

Check the list of state parks at greenfriday.org for availability and to reserve a pass.
