The high cost of a DUI
A first conviction for DUI costs approximately $12,176, according to the Napa County DUI Task Force. This includes: insurance premium increase, attorney/legal fees, penalties and DUI school. This does not include: medical costs, auto repairs, exposure to civil liability or the cost of alternate transportation while the driver’s license is suspended. Know your limits. Designate a driver. Carry cab money and phone numbers.
No safe amount
When getting behind the wheel, there is no safe amount of alcohol to have consumed. Any amount increases the likelihood a driver might be involved in an accident. Reaching blood-alcohol content of .08, the legal limit, makes drivers 25 times more likely to be in accident than if they were sober. Source: California Department of Motor Vehicles Driver Handbook.
