A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with a stabbing Saturday morning in Napa, according to police.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Fourth Street shortly before 9:50 a.m. after a reported altercation, Capt. Jeff Troendly said in a news release. Two men arguing over stolen property came to blows, and one of the men, David James McCarthy, pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man once in the abdomen before fleeing, Troendly said.
Police stopped McCarthy, a transient, a few blocks away at Main and Fifth streets. He was detained and booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and giving false information to police officers.
The victim, whose name was not released, was treated at the scene by the Napa Fire Department, according to Troendly. He was then taken by American Medical Response to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for what police called minor injuries before being released.
