A homeless motorist was arrested Monday after a police officer stopped his sedan at about 11:30 a.m. near Franklin and Oak streets for having an expired registration tag, according to Napa police.

Dennis Eric Davenport, 51, allegedly was under the influence of alcohol, police said. Davenport was on probation with terms not to drink or possess alcohol, police said.

He was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of probation violation, driving under the influence and being an unlicensed driver, police said
