A Napa State Hospital patient on Thursday was charged in connection with an assault reported Tuesday night at the state psychiatric facility, according to court records.

Jason John Soletti, 43, was arrested and booked into the Napa County jail on Wednesday in connection with the incident reported at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday. It is unclear if the alleged victim was a fellow patient.

According to a court filing, Soletti pushed the man onto the ground, held him down with the weight of his body, wrapped a cord around his neck and pulled tightly. Hospital personnel pulled Soletti off the man, police said in a court filing.

Soletti was charged Thursday in Napa County Superior Court with assault with a deadly weapon, assault by means to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment by violence with special allegation because of drug-related convictions in Shasta County, according to court records.
