An anonymous tip from Napa Valley Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of Chuck Clifford Rothberg, 40, on Wednesday, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Rothberg was found in his home on the 2000 block of Wilkins Avenue in Napa, where he was hiding in his bedroom closet. He was arrested for two outstanding felonies for failure to appear in court, as well as possession of a controlled substance, hypodermic needles, and the keys to a vehicle that had been stolen out of Sacramento, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Possession of drugs is usually a misdemeanor, but for Rothberg it was upgraded to a felony because two young children live at the residence, said Capt. Doug Pike.
Napa Valley Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit program that allows tipsters to report crime anonymously, sometimes in exchange for cash rewards.
