Napa County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday afternoon rescued a 35-year-old Richmond man who lost consciousness while tubing on Lake Berryessa, according to CalFire/Napa County Fire and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The call for help arrived at about 5:50 p.m.
The man was riding an inner tube with his daughter when they rolled off the tube into the lake, sheriff’s Sgt. Doug Pace said. The daughter, whose age is unknown, was wearing a life jacket, but he was not. When they rolled off the tube, the daughter panicked and pulled her father underwater, he said.
His wife and passers-by jumped into the water to prevent the semiconscious man from drowning. Deputies then arrived and brought the man in a Sheriff’s Office boat to Pleasure Cove, Pace said.
The man, who was not identified, was transported by Calstar air ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, according to CalFire/Napa County Fire. His condition was unknown Saturday night. The incident remains under investigation.
