A 44-year-old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Friday after allegedly beating another man with a baseball bat, according to Napa Police.

Officers responded to a homeless encampment near Hartle Court at about 12:20 p.m. after 911 dispatchers received a call from the area in which they heard a man screaming for help. When officers located the man, he had lacerations on his swollen ankles and at least one ankle appeared to be broken. The man told officers that he was attacked while in his tent by Ian James O’Connor, 44, who may have been upset with him for previously kicking him out of the campsite.
