A parolee was arrested Thursday afternoon after an officer saw him allegedly assault someone in the 1300 block of Fourth Street, according to Napa Police.
At about 2:45 p.m., an officer saw James Clayton McCurdy, 28, of Napa, allegedly punch a subject in the head and knock him to the ground, police said. When the officer pulled up, McCurdy started to run but gave up after 30 yards.
McCurdy was allegedly in possession of a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, police said.
He was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of resisting police, possession of a controlled substance, fighting in a public place, obstructing a peace officer and parole violation, police said. The alleged assault victim declined to press charges, police said.
