A reported shoplifting during the noon hour Saturday led to a hit-and-run in the Kohl's parking lot in downtown Napa, followed by a search that netted two arrests, police report.

Kohl's loss prevention officer called in a theft in progress. Two fleeing adults ran over a pedestrian as they sped out of the store's parking lot, Napa Police said.

Equipped with a vehicle description, a license plate and a description of the two suspects, officers with Napa Police and the California Highway Patrol pulled over a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 29 at Tower Road.

Police arrested Marcus Brown, 42, of Vacaville and Maria Soto, 39, of Winters after reportedly finding Kohl's property in the vehicle as well as hundreds of receipts, barcodes and stolen forged checks out of Vallejo, police said.
