A 30-year-old Napa man who was arrested in December after authorities allege that he leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit in the Monticello Road area was arrested again on Thursday following another pursuit, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
Knowing that Eugene Takashi Nieves had a warrant out against him, deputies approaching his home on Monticello Road attempted to stop his vehicle about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Capt. Keith Behlmer said.
Nieves, driving a black SUV, fled from deputies and headed to Fairfield via Wooden Valley Road, Behlmer said. Deputies continued the pursuit until about 11 a.m. when Solano County California Highway Patrol officers took over.
CHP Officers pursued Nieves as his vehicle sped eastbound on Interstate 80 and onto Highway 12, Officer Dave Harvey said. Nieves was finally stopped in the area of Beck Avenue, taken into custody and transported to the hospital for clearance, Harvey said.
Fairfield Police assisted in stopping the pursuit. Spike strips and a police K-9 were also used.
Nieves will be booked at the Solano County jail on suspicion of felony evading, resisting arrest, hit and run and for the warrant, Harvey said.
Nieves had been expected to be arraigned in Napa County Superior Court earlier on Thursday morning on charges related to a pursuit he was allegedly involved with in December. The warrant was issued after he didn’t’ show up.
