A man wearing a T-shirt reading "Cancer Research Foundation for Children" was arrested outside the Trancas Street Safeway Wednesday afternoon for conducting a fundraising scam, Napa Police reported.

Saying they knew the solicitor from previous contacts, police called the 1-800 number on the donation can and verified that the foundation does not do public solicitations, police said in a news release.

Officers arrested Joshua James Bagg, 26, for investigation of theft by false pretenses and violation of probation.

Police said they recovered $150 from the can.
