A man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly assaulted a teenager on McKenzie Drive near Oxbow Preserve park, according to Napa police.

Michael Lee Pauls, 25, of Napa, allegedly punched the 19-year-old man, knocking him to the ground and kicking him repeatedly after the teenager walked up to Pauls' van and tried to get in, police said. Pauls then took off in the van.

The older-style blue van was stopped in the 800 block of Third Street, police said. The injured teenager, who was in and out of consciousness, later identified the driver as his alleged assailant, police said.

Pauls was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of battery causing serious injury, police said.
