The Veterans Home of California’s day-to-day leader has stepped down after 13 years at the Yountville facility, the state Department of Veterans Affairs has announced.

Marcella McCormack left Sept. 20 as administrator of the Veterans Home, and her retirement will become official Monday, according to CalVet spokesman Ron Brand.

A retired U.S. Navy commander who served 20 years in the military, McCormack became the Yountville home’s first female administrator in January 2000.

Navy Col. Stanley R. Jones has taken over as the Yountville home’s interim administrator, Brand said in a statement. A former administrator for the Yountville center’s skilled nursing facility, Jones has been the director of health care services for CalVet’s eight veterans homes since January 2012.
