A 43-year-old Napa woman was arrested early Saturday morning after she allegedly grabbed a man by the neck and dragged him to the ground during an altercation, police said.

Officers were called at 12:39 a.m. to the 2500 block of Elm Street on report of a domestic assault, police said. On arrival, officers contacted the alleged victim and the suspect, Gretchen Marie Hallmark.

According to the alleged victim, Hallmark came home drunk and instigated an argument, and allegedly proceeded to attack him, police said. He proceeded to lock himself in the garage and call police.

A records check reportedly showed the woman was on probation for a prior domestic violence incident and the victim has a restraining order directing Hallmark to stay away from him, police said.

Hallmark was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, violating probation and a misdemeanor charge of violating a restraining order, police said. She was booked into the Napa jail.
