Yountville will extend weekend swimming and other aquatics programs at its public pool through Labor Day, the town announced Monday.

Community Swim will continue on from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Aug. 31, and into Labor Day on Sept. 1, the end of the Yountville pool season. The final weekday of open pool use was Tuesday.

In addition, the town said enough funding and staffing exists to continue the adult lap swim, veterans' and seniors' swim programs through Labor Day. Those sessions will be offered daily, except on Mondays and Saturdays, between 10 a.m. and noon.

Those programs had been tentatively scheduled to close Aug. 12 as lifeguards returned to high school or college, but were extended because enough college-age staff remain available into the beginning of September, according to Lisa Tyler, town community facilities manager.

The Yountville Community Pool is at 100 California Drive on the Veterans Home grounds.
