Napa resident Dale Norman Hoemke died Feb. 2, 2013, at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo, Calif. He was born May 9, 1929, to Carl and Mildred LaSage Hoemke in Milwaukee, Wis.
During the Korean Conflict, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of staff sergeant upon his discharge in 1954. After receiving his degree in business administration from Marquette University, he entered the fields of insurance and reinsurance, where he spent a career of more than 40 years prior to retirement as a senior vice president.
He was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Fraternity and, in Napa, had been active in St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, the Napa Yacht Club, and took quiet pride in having served on the Napa County grand jury. He enjoyed reading, golfing and traveling.
Dale is survived by his wife, Marie, of Napa; brothers-in-law, Paul Yela of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Franklin Yela of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters, Bethann Corso of Ridgefield, Conn., and Paula Hernandez (Felix) of Fairfield, Calif.; sons, Jesse Madahar (Cindi) of Corinth, Miss., and Rob Madahar (Megan) of Concord, Calif.; nephews, Jack Hoemke of Madison, Wisc., Dennis Harrison of Sun City, Fla., and William Liegois of Muscatine, Iowa; nieces, Debra Hailey of Apollo Beach, Fla., Pamela Fugate of Del Ray Beach, Fla., and niece Mary Beth Bergstrom of Newark, Del.; Ramona Bissett (widow of C. Jack Hoemke, Brother — deceased) of San Antonio, Texas; and grandchildren, Isabella Corso, Briana Corso, Clint Corso, Kevin Hernandez, Kaleb Hernandez, Kaitlyn Hernandez, Alexandra Madahar, Nathaniel Madahar, Bradley Madahar and Quintin Madahar.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Liegois and Jean Wendorf.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, Feb. 11, 10:30 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3521 Linda Vista Ave., Napa. Interment with military honors will follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif. Visitation will be at Treadway & Wigger on Sunday, from 3 to 5 p.m.
