On behalf of the many dog owners who frequent Alston Park, I offer a heartfelt thank you to those few who, without any prompting whatsoever, leave little plastic goodie bags along the trails for our dogs to find and play with (and an especially profound thank you to the thoughtful soul who leaves the green bags on the lower trail leading back to the south parking area.) You cannot imagine the joy your kindness brings when our little friends discover one of your treats.
It is certainly fortunate that the city doesn't have garbage cans distributed throughout the park for then, I fear, these gifts left for us might simply disappear. And what a shame that would be. After all, who among us would want a park devoid of the wondefulness you and your dogs leave for us.
