Three 'thumbs up' for the Vintage High School Concert Choir's production of "Les Miserables." The music, staging, rhythm, and over all performances by the students was impressive. Do not miss the opportunity to see this production running through March 11, with evening and matinee performances. Let's show them some love and pack the house.
The staging was truly three dimensional, with part of the stage built forward of the orchestra pit. Their use of translucent screening to create an other-worldly dimension was very effective. The students' attention to detail of their body movements in rhythm and frozen postures added to the quality of the production. The sculptural geometry of their shapes they created on stage was mesmerizing and also added to the drama of the story.
The students, teachers and parents worked very hard and long hours for many months to bring this all together, and it worked. Congratulations. Special thanks to Mark Teeters and Liz Amendola for their dedication and musical direction.
The voices of the entire choir continue to echo throughout my day. Bravo. The story lines and stories within the opera have relevance even today.
