I am writing to express my support of the Napa Oaks project.
As of Dec. 14, there are only two homes currently on the market for 3400 square feet or larger for between $1.5 and 2 million. The city of Napa only has 381 houses 3,400 square foot or bigger in total. This shows that there’s a critical need for housing at this level.
Beyond the housing at the site, I was happy to hear the upon approval, the Napa Oaks project will donate approximately $1.1 million to a shovel-ready affordable housing project. Even more housing for Napans.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2010 to 2016 only 772 homes were built in Napa County even though employment grew by more than 7,300. Additionally, we lost around 600 homes in the fires in the valley. This is not sustainable, and we are going to lose quality in our workforce--and traffic is only going to get worse. We crucially need housing of all levels in Napa.
Why are we delaying the approval of this project? Isn’t our goal as a “Live Strong” community is to show support and provide growth for our community within? Please join me and support the Napa Oaks Project.
