Thank you to the many people from Napa who stopped by our table at the Flyway Festival in Vallejo to say they were against the Orcem cement factory proposal.

Bringing shiploads of industrial waste from Asia and Mexico to grind into cement on the banks of the Napa River is certainly more than a Vallejo-only problem. The safety data sheet for Orcem's primary ingredient, called slag, warns that the material is "Very Toxic to Aquatic Life" and is "Fatal if Inhaled."

The negative consequences of unloading and storing shiploads of slag, cement, pozzolan, gypsum and limestone on the banks of the Napa River are very real and very far-reaching. Please contact your Congressman, Mike Thompson, to express your concerns about a cement factory on the river that Vallejo shares with Napa.
