Of all the changes in Napa recently, some wonderful and some not so wonderful, I am so sad to see Vallerga's Market close. I'm also very grateful for their 71 years of incredible service to this community and the spirit of this Valley they personified.
I moved to Napa 30 years ago and spent my first night in town at Joe Vallerga’s home. He was the only person I knew when I moved here and I loved him, his entire family, and what the Vallerga family stood for all these years.
I have been a faithful shopper at the store for the past 30 years, and both my sons had their first jobs at Vallerga's. They both live in Napa and they too have been faithful Vallerga's shoppers.
The Vallerga family represents the best of Napa Valley values, and I and my family thank them for their great service, tenacity, their fabulous meat, vegetable, fruit and deli departments and their always friendly staff.
Vallerga's has been a wonderful partner to so many nonprofits throughout the years and has always kept the spirit of partnership and generosity as their guiding principal. I understand that competition, buying habits and the grocery business has changed, but it’s a sad day to see this amazing business close.
Thank you for 71 years of great service. I will miss you terribly.
